Leadership lacked the desire to commit to commercial viability because it would have required a modification to culture, shifting from an Open Source mentality to a pay-for-performance SaaS mentality. Though this reality was known, the decision (or lack thereof) to address it resulted in company layoffs and ultimately selling to a SaaS company.
