Ultimately, money has decided everything for a long time. Long-term mismanagement of that money has trashed the success of the company. Corners have been cut in every way possible. Plants have been exponentially falling into further disrepair for years.
This is an old white boys club. If you are anything other than that- best of luck! The company will not enforce the same expectations for senior/tenured employees, specifically in terms of culture/behavior. Tough times for DE&I initiatives.
HR has many positive goals and focuses, but the dept. is realistically a figurehead... ultimately operational success takes precedence over everything. Even safety.
The company is collaborative, but only in silos. It is a fight to work together at the plants if those people choose not to join. In the roles at or interacting with corporate, you will have more luck.
Corporate leadership has held off on properly compensating staff in the plant (who are the only profit-generating group) for far too long, and continue to fight providing it.
