Pros

-Extremely knowledgeable leadership at the corporate level and in general. -Many different career paths and opportunity for growth -Competitive wages -Numerous people have left and come back over the years just from what I've seen, which should tell you a lot. -Ownership of your responsibilities. -Micromanaging is rare or non existent. -Not working in retail. -Self motivated people can truly count on moving up the ladder. -in my case, the work changes daily so burnout is mitigated significantly. -Hourly employees can sell back portion of PTO. -Plenty of overtime, but there are still other positions that only work 40 if that is your focus. -401k with employer matching opportunities. -Some locations have sign on bonuses and other bonuses. -Many other perks like tuition reimbursement

Cons

-Health insurance could be better for this line of work. -Fast paced work environment is tough for some. -Dirty work outside the corporate office. -Some positions are labor intensive. -There are times where you need to advocate for yourself so something doesn't become overlooked in the fast paced work environment. -Many moving parts can cause a disconnect between departments

Pros

The shift supervisor role consists of busy days with a lot of varying priorities. You are responsible for emissions regulation, work permits, specialized permits, managing changing plant conditions, and administrative personnel requirements. This can be a high-octane role but has a more relaxed period on night shift and when outages aren't occurring (planned shutdowns for maintenance). Expect to drive plant performance and employee development. Many opportunities for professional and personal development if you put the time in.

Cons

The plant culture will play a huge role in your quality of life, since most of your time will be at the plant. This can be good or bad. Quite a few managers do not engage or develop personnel due to various qualities. You will have to do the leg work in fostering a change for personnel development.
