Pros

No pros, a cult like environment where critical feedback can not be taken. Follow the herd of sheep or be executed.

Cons

A bubble that only works within itself No job opportunity after graduation for students Over-priced, go to real university if you want an education in counselling

We believe we know who wrote this review and we believe it was unfortunately from an individual who was a disgruntled student who demanded a refund and did not get it - thus the individual has posted this as an "Anonymous Employee". If you look at the reviews of the other employees that have submitted something to Glass Door, you will get authentic insight into our organization. This particular individual says that it is a "cult like environment where critical feedback [cannot] be taken." They feel this way because others did not agree with their take. We work super super hard and we are incredibly grateful for the hard work of our instructors, our TA's, and almost virtually of our students! We aspire to these 8 values: https://www.rhodescollege.ca/about-rhodes/eight-values-we-advocate/ . We are far from perfect and we make mistakes. When we make mistakes we own up to what we have done and work to do better. And at the same time, we ask others to take responsibilty when they need to. A Rhodes experience is deeply experiential. With our experiential model, you experience over 1,780 hours of live, deeply facilitated instruction. Our students practice proven counselling techniques, deeply rooted in proven theory, over and over in our classrooms and in our counselling clinic with their classmates and eventually their own clients. Supervision is provided always and in fact, we include supervision for free for one year following graduation. Our model works as experienced by so many of our graduates over the past close to 30 years. Organizations we work with tell us that our graduates are better prepared than other graduates because they learn how to deeply and expertly hold space for others and how to ensure the counselling and coaching experience is never about them as the practitioner, but always about their client. Our longest program is our Professional Counsellor Diploma program, which leads to designation as either a Registered Professional Counsellor (PCD) with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA) or a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) with the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada (ACCT). Tuition for our longest, close to two-year program, is just over $26,000. We are a well-known, high-level program that is focused and delivers a high level of competency for our graduates. This is a practitioner route. Some who want to take a more theoretical route of course can and that route usually traverses a Master's degree. We support those that want to take that route and actually recommend a few notable universities that do a phenomenal job facilitating a more theoretical model. That route usually will take close to 7 years or more (including and requiring a Bachelors degree) and costs usually $40,000 - $80,000 for the master's degree and an additional $40,000 - $60,000 for a Bachelor's degree. Again, this is a valid and good route, however, most of the time, those that choose Rhodes do so because they instead want a focused pratitioner-based model that will help them become a professional coach and counsellor over a few years time. Our courses are taught by individuals with many years experience working in industry and most have Master's degrees. They work hard, and care, care, care. Our students, our staff, and our TA's care. We have a family feeling because we teach using a cohort model, one course at at time (rather than students teaching 4-5 classes simultaneously with many constantly varying students) and we suppose that can be misnomered; however, for those that really dig into their education with us, they really benefit from our approach to education; our staff and all associate with helping in our organization are all committed to making our educational model as transformative and wonderful as possible. To put this in a few words, we disagree with what the writer of this review stated and we care enough to write about it to the extent we are. Regardless of whether a potential employee or student chooses Rhodes, we sincerely hope that your journey with either us or any other insitution will serve you to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Sincerely, Rhodes Wellness College

Pros

Convenient because I could work from home. Admin was nice enough

Cons

Lack of organization from the administration. The policies and codes of conduct are merely for show - you can be disrespected and abused by students and they face no consequences. This place just cares about money, not about upholding a standard. The pay is brutal (low).
