Pros
You get the chance to earn volunteer/service hours, get access to political opportunities, and learn skills for voter outreach.
Cons
For an unpaid internship, they put so much fear into the interns to canvass many doors/ phone banks a lot of voters each week. The weekly targets for the summer are very demanding. As remote interns, we were expected to hit 1,250 phone contacts a week.
The HR team would post discouraging messages of cutting down on interns who didn't hit these targets. While I understand that we need to take our roles seriously, it is not okay to pressure high school students who already deal with stress from school.
The team continuously deactivates interns and managers every week.
