Pros

Nice uniform. Hotel in the centre and close to everything. Pay a few cents more than other hotels (10.79 per hour)

Cons

The hotel is historic and very beautiful, but unfortunately the HR team is very disorganized. There are a lot of resignations, a lot of work and little return. I only worked one day at the hotel (8 hours of standing work with only 15 minutes of break) and I saw the lack of preparation for Covid. The table that was supposed to be cleaned and disinfected after guests used it was not being properly disinfected. The waiters took the cutlery, salt and sugar bowl, took them to the kitchen and returned with the same unsoiled utensils for the tables. (Cameras can prove this and managers were aware that utensils are not being disinfected!) I also witnessed one of the waiters collecting food that had fallen on the floor WITH HIS HAND, as he was not guided where the broom and dustpan were to clean the floor. Until today I haven't received the day I worked and the training! Yes, unfortunately I worked for free! I have not received feedback from managers about this either. (not even the contract was sent to me, just the email telling me when I should work!) Unfortunately, the management positions at the RIU Dublin hotel are not prepared for this large and renowned hotel chain. Hope this improves in the future and that they treat their employees and customers with respect.

Pros

Decent hourly pay rate, if you get paid.

Cons

Terrible management, there is no communication, the "training" consists of you having to ask all this questions because there is not a system in place, management spends most time on their phone, if you are a female chances are you will succeed, there is one manager(Roberto) that especially gives a better treatment to women, he will even ignore other people but women when interacting, don't show up for work early(they hate it, it's like you are in their way, even if you are not, but don't be late either), if you are thirsty, make sure you bring your own drink, they will charge their employees even for a sip of soda, avoid asking questions to management, the one guy with beard and glasses(Roberto)especially, he gets very annoyed, know that if you are a seasonal employee you have to be walking on shells basically, most employees are very entitled, even the lady that cleans the lobby will be rude to you, if there is a spill and she has to do her job, she will do it, but she'll be rude and mean to you, make sure you log in your hours on the time machine and in the log binder, beg management to submit your hours to payrrol department, otherwise you will not get paid in time.
