Pros

Friendly environment for the most part.

Cons

I went into this position under the impression that I would be an intern. When actually I was a full time worker getting paid minimum wage. My job role changed every day, and the management was extremely unorganized. I definitely believe the management was only calling the position an internship to underpay employees. This was my first Human Resources internship and I did not got the experience I need. Towards the end of my internship, I was asked to recruit more Human Resources members, since as the company grew there was more responsibility on my end. This was not a bad idea but the management did not want to put the right amount of effort into the recruiting process. The management had me interview them by myself, as an intern my first few weeks with the company. Additionally I asked for advice on how to conduct interviews and I was told me to say whatever I wanted. There was not much guidance or support from the founder. The founder also continually tried to extend my hours and change the role of my internship from what we had agreed on. When I said i could not work longer hours due to my school and other prior commitments i was told i could not continue with the duties of my original internship and would have to do other work. I know the behavior of the founder caused other interns to also leave the company l. The founder does not advertise jobs correctly for the cleaning services and led other potential employees on. You cannot post the same job in the same borough within 90 days on indeed.com, without paying a fee. Instead of putting "housekeeping position" I was told to put "Housekeeping Supervisor", which seems as if it is a more professional position with a different role. The position title was changed only to have another listing instead of paying the fee, and it was uncomfortable having people with business degrees become angry for false advertisement of the position they applied for.

Pros

-You work in an air conditioned building.

Cons

-The company will go down--probably soon. -The owner won't pay you if you quit after completing the work week. -The job description is incredible narrow, but the responsibilities are way beyond the job description, especially for the rate of pay (which at the time was $13/hr but might have forcibly gone up by then). I worked an entire week from Monday to Sunday at some point in the summer of 2018 and to this day have yet to get paid for that. I don't care about the owed money anymore, and so I leave this negative review. -After a week and a half I decided it was not a good fit for me, as it is not an 'internship' as advertised, and the owner doesn't know how to speak to his employees with respect. We're your employees, not your slaves. Not to mention the way he speaks to his clients--very tacky, rude, and sarcastic. The founder of a start-up should be much more amicable if s/he actually wants success, and that will not happen here. -Oh, and the work day is 7am to 6pm. Hahhh
