Pros
- I feel like I've grown as a designer and as a person since joining Runway. People are smart yet empathetic and low-ego, which makes being vulnerable and growing quickly pretty easy (and often the norm here). - People want to be here, they're bought into the mission and they like their teammates. - The company respects work-life balance, but still pushes hard on speed and quality. I feel challenged at work (and sometimes stressed) but mental health days and vacations are encouraged (and mandatory), and work shuts off when I leave my desk. - The CEO has grown a lot since I met him, both as a person and a leader. I think there are a lot of brilliant, immature, and egotistical tech bro CEOs out there, and Siqi simply isn't one of them (except the brilliant part). - Prospects are good. Customers love what we're building and share feedback generously. Runway is valuable, and we charge for that value commensurately. The brand is new, but already commands a lot of respect for being high quality and different. I think it's very likely that Runway will be successful.
Cons
- Zoom meetings can be exhausting at times. This is probably true everywhere. But I don't think Runway has done much to address it aside from just scheduling fewer meetings (which helps). - There's a lot of ambiguity in how to solve some of our biggest product challenges. Sometimes it catches up to you and can be pretty overwhelming. Working problems with others usually helps.
