Pros

-Excellent training programs. However training program has become red-taped where many use it for getting promotions. Some even as 'holidays' and get by it. -Top class benefits, though are under scrutiny. HR managers trying to shine. -Just do your job well (don't lax off) and they (usually) take care of you. - Financially strong to ride out dips in economy. Though sometimes the axe cuts are deep and painful. - Most top management from field staff so are appreciative of field conditions and make effort to get real picture of field conditions. However middle management often succeeds in portraying a better picture than true reality, during top managers typically short visits.

Cons

- May have to work in remote locations, without families. -Field/Country managers tend to think short-term, usually for the duration of their tenure, typically 2-4 years long. This affects morale and long term goals. - Growth opportunities in some areas could be limited. God-Fathers and "blowing your trumpet" seem to help. - Some field managers can be rude, demeaning and even abusive. Thankfully this is an exception rather than routine. Stress can be sometimes peak to high levels. - Field work is physically demanding, particularly during later years of your career.
