Pros

SSMU has pretty decent benefits -mainly its flexible work and its additional 2 weeks off in December in addition to the 15 days of annual leave. The staff is nice for the most part, the people really made SSMU bearable when work was stressful.

Cons

The inherent structure of a student union makes it difficult as a full time staff member. Student executives are elected year after year but there is a lack of knowledge transfer between years. Student execs also often hesitate to take the experience of full time staff into consideration. There is a lack of upper management structure, leaving many coordinators and managers overworked without appropriate renumeration. Pay raises..... nonexistent.

Pros

Staff that cares about the society's mission and purpose. Friendly and collaborative co-workers. Management is easily accessible.

Cons

Annual turnover means that policies and mandates are hard to implement long term. Society has a less than stellar public relations record.
