Pros

Still just about small enough that you can know everyone by name. Very friendly and helpful colleagues overall; new starters receive a warm welcome. Rewarding to feel like you're making a positive difference. Fast pace keeps it interesting, if you like that. Gave me lots of good experience.

Cons

How good your experience is very much depends on your team/manager. There are increasing and widespread issues with workload, stress and morale, and individuals are blamed explicitly or implicitly for not self managing. Toxic behaviours are enabled. Pay is low for the level of responsibility and workload, and scales are not transparent. Support for staff moving roles/being promoted is lacking.

Pros

Great people, who are highly skilled in their field and deserve more respect and recognition. Lovely office location. Good holiday allowance. Serves a good cause.

Cons

Senior leadership is inconsistent, disjointed, disillusioned and weak. Work first not people first. Strategic direction is unclear. People are over worked and fear raising this. Wellbeing and engagement initiatives are tick box exercises and meaningless.
