Pros

Good pay Good benefits Pension Non-call centre jobs have good hours/schedule and flexibility. Get out of the call centre and it’s a totally different world where you get treated like an adult instead of micromanaged constantly.

Cons

In the call centre: Shift work forever, FT staff can’t get day shift or regular schedule M-F ever. Daily meetings to discuss metrics with no applicable coaching given Call centre mgmt doesn’t care as long as your stats are good. They will look the other way if you find ways to cheat the system. Other departments: have much better management but can take a long time to get out of the phone jobs. Promoted on seniority because of union Career growth is limited at locations other than Regina If hired PT can take up to 10 years to get FT. Training seriously lacking, especially when launching new products. Will cite union/government as the reason they’re “unable” to change anything.

Pros

Great people, great benefit, flexible schedule. Work pressure is minimal. OT is non existent.

Cons

Job is not very challenging. I was in a union position so everything is based on seniority. I ended up with quitting the job and started my own company.
