Pros
- I actually enjoyed working on the product. I thought it was a good product, just plagued by bad long-term planning + decision making
Cons
- Very toxic management; all that was expected of me was "just get the next new feature out"... while creating endless tech debt that would wait to get addressed until the last moment and then it was "why do we have all this tech debt" - I've noticed that the type of people who make it into upper management here are folks who aren't really cut out to be managers but have either 1. been here for a long time, so there's pressure for them to move up or 2. have no issues always saying "yes", even to the detriment of their team - Many managers here are getting their first real "taste of power" and it goes to their heads - A lot of partners thought our products were overpriced - My fellow teammates would shame me to management and behind my back, but would pretend to be "my friend" or help me to my face. - Large culture gap - none of my co-workers were native Canadians - they were all European who emigrated - that created a very "European-style" working culture on my team that I didn't jive with
