      A good foundation held back by micro-management - Solutions Consultant Scandit Employee Review

      Pros

      The company is an industry leader in barcode reading and their core product is really quite good. Scandit is also putting a lot of effort into maintaining a strong culture in spite of a highly dispersed workforce.

      Cons

      The company's efforts to build a great culture fall apart at the team level, especially in the Americas SC org. Micro-management rather than leadership was my impression, which is unfortunate. There are some very talented people on the SC team that could be even more effective in their roles if they were given the resources and support to succeed instead of being held down by oppressive and pedantic management. From a product perspective, open-source competition is continually improving and closing the gap quickly, making Scandit hard to sell. Leadership and product teams have tried to pivot to differentiated offerings that could drive more value, but they have come up with those product offerings largely in a vacuum and they aren’t a good fit for the market.

      While the company predominantly favors remote work, there is potential for expanding/improving the Boston office.

      Pros

      team culture is phenomenal, they are really good about granting time off and overall the managers are very supportive. Team events are fun and good work/life balance.

      Cons

      the culture at Scandit is very relaxed - people did not have a "get it done" attitude and were mostly focused on socializing and building team connection. That is great but I felt they took it a little too far and did not work very hard. Difficult to grow career in that environment. Overall not a bad place to work but not really a place for significant growth.
