Pros

Working for SciTech offers several advantages, including above-average pay, comprehensive benefits, and a supportive work environment that fosters professional growth.

Cons

While SciTech offers attractive pay and good benefits, the company's rapid expansion under the director's obsession with appearing larger led to significant issues. The team was expanded too quickly, and after losing a couple of key contracts, redundancies were necessary. However, instead of acknowledging his own mismanagement and misjudgement, the director blamed the economy. Labour rates were set too low to compete with larger companies, affecting profitability. Despite being employee-owned, major decisions, such as redundancies, were made without employee input. Promises of a proper review period and notice before redundancy were broken for several employees, myself included, with dismissals occurring just days later without warning. Worse still, this has happened multiple times in the past, with some employees being offered new contracts with lower pay and worse terms just three weeks after being let go. HR even mishandled termination packages. The office environment in Godalming was equally discouraging, with the lead director imposing a strict, joyless atmosphere, despite failed attempts to improve it. Additionally, the recruitment process was highly unprofessional, with emails ignored, resulting in missed opportunities for roles.

We genuinely value feedback from both current and former employees, as it plays a crucial role in shaping the continued development of our company to better serve our clients and colleagues. We understand the impact that organisational changes can have on our people. The decision to restructure was not taken lightly and was made to better serve the market and our customer base. Pros

I worked here temporarily for 3 weeks to support the front desk. Despite only being a temp, everyone in the office made an effort to introduce themselves and have a chat. There seemed to be a lot of value in employee development and many opportunities available to employees in terms of courses and events (e.g. encouraged apprenticeships and held frequent 'lunch & learns'). The kitchen was always well stocked with tea, coffee and biscuits!

Cons

The office was small and quiet compared to larger corporations I've worked at but as a specialist engineering company that is to be expected.

Pros

5 years ago, I joined Scitech for a year-long placement as a process engineer. This was an internship scheme as part of my university degree to gain experience working in an engineering firm. I chose Scitech due to my interest in the pharmaceuticals sector and background. During my time there on placement, I was able to gain invaluable experiences working on a variety of projects with subject-matter experts in various fields in the life sciences and biopharmaceutical sector. Scitech also valued that I was still a university student so looked out for me by providing me with vast experiences working on various projects so I could get the most out of my placement. Even though the end of my placement was affected by the pandemic, I was still kept on until the end of my placement and given regular project work where possible. Years later, I had been working on some other graduate jobs since finishing university but had still not found something I truly enjoyed. A few months ago, I was approached by a colleague I worked with about a vacancy in their process engineering team. I thought it was too good to be true but here I am back at Scitech working a permanent role as a Process Engineer. The company hosts an amazing culture and everyone is super friendly and always willing to help. The work is challenging but very interesting and especially relevant with new technological and industrial challenges today.
