Pros

Some really good people across all teams - intelligent, passionate, talented and overall great to work with. If you are looking to for a role at Screenmedia I can say there is going to be a segment in your time here where you will be aquiring plenty new skills and knowledge (at quite a fast pace - because there is usually not much dedicated time for experimenting/learning, unless it's for a client project that's just about to kick off). You are going to find there is at least a person in each team that's more than happy to help with answering questions or putting you on the right path (again, there are some really nice people there). Depending on your previous experience, you might either end up working on something that's new and interesting to you, or, end up stuck or disappointed.

Cons

- the managing director is a bit of a fake, egotistic, stubborn, childish, gatekeeping micromanager that's stuck in the past (and all this is important, as most things below stem from this point) - 0 transparency and very little open honesty - no long term plan or vision, everything is about the next project - the company has fallen behind times in most aspects of the industry standards, while still flashing moments from their history when questioned about it - the people with "director" or "manager" in their title (so, in their case, about 25-30% of the company) have no decision making power as everything needs to go through and be approved by the MD - a lot of untruthful propaganda being pushed in all the mediums, from job opportunities to their main website, the biggest lies being that they are a leader in innovation, that they have a competitive incentive package, and that they invest in their team (you can also absolutely see this in a lot of the "positive reviews" here on Glassdoor - a good percentage of those are people from the team that have been asked by 'higher management' to tweak the rating numbers up a bit) - the best(and I would argue, sometimes only) ways to be promoted or get a significant salary bump is to either blackmail them by saying you're about to leave and have a great offer from somewhere else, or to be a "yes" person - on the other hand, strong opinions, constructive feedback and any kind of thoughts or initiatives that would involve change are received with a fake welcoming smile and passive aggressive feedback (and negative financial consequences) in your annual review, from the MD - there's no HR department or person, therefore you get "company policies" that no one knew about just springing up on you from nowhere - and even if some of them are actually documented, no one in the team knows about them. It also means that there's no one pushing for or working to define better incentives for the team - "working for us" is treated as a benefit and something you need to be grateful for. The work-life balance is not great, as under estimated and under budgeted projects are the norm, so unpaid overtime becomes expected/glorified - I cannot stress this enough "THEY HAVE NO SICK PAY" (or any other benefits really - but that one is a shocker) ... there's more, but I am not being paid for my time writing this, unlike some of the people writing positive reviews here, so those were some of the main pain points.
