Pros

Good mission to teach children the importance of saving our oceans

Cons

Incredibly toxic work environment with a leader who cares about her own reputation more than the mental health and wellbeing of her staff.

Pros

Time spent outdoors. Children were excited to learn.

Cons

Don't have a lot of choice in which camp you can work at (Kits beach or Trout lake).

Pros

Sea Smart is a wonderful, supportive place of work. The team is full of passionate, dedicated individuals who will work magic to make a change. The dedication shown by the team and management to the organization's mission is without question and this is evident in every program and project that Sea Smart organizes. The team is small but everyone chips in where needed, it operates under the motto that all employees are equal. Dr. Elaine Leung, Sea Smart's ED, is kind and always helping out where needed. She leads the team and is quick to think of new ideas and get creative. She's fun and exciting to work with and is encouraging in every way possible. I loved the goals Sea Smart sets for itself and appreciated that priorities related to DEI and accessibility were never considered as a box to check off. The organization from the beginning has been fully committed to providing accessible education to everyone and goes out of its way to make sure that everyone has the same opportunities to engage in their programming. Meeting these priorities also extends internally. Sea Smart's staff and board members for a majority are female (or identify as female) and people of colour. This was refreshing to see! This is a great place to work if you enjoy a dynamic environment!

Cons

None. Great place to work!
