It is very difficult to succeed at Second Spectrum if you are not a white/asian guy who just graduated from an expensive school and loves basketball and bro-ing out at work. The exception to this is if you go to church with all of the executives. Other than that you're SOL. If you come from another company, your past work experience is not only useless, but treated as a negative because the executives think they're the first people to ever have a start-up and no one could possibly be smarter than them. If you're a POC you can expect to be paraded around in an attempt to justify the company calling itself diverse. You will not be given opportunities to grown and will often watch less qualified white/asian boys have time and resources poured into them while they take credit for your work. You will be expected to perform duties outside of your job description in order to help with diversity "efforts" despite the fact that this is not your job. You will not receive support from leadership. You will be blamed when you fail. If you're a woman, your friendships will be policed. Your tone will be policed. The way you dress will be policed; because it's your responsibility to do what you can to help the young men in the office control their thoughts. These things will be told to you by a woman pretending she cares. You will be expected to perform duties outside of your job description in order to help with diversity "efforts" despite the fact that this is not your job. You will not receive support from leadership. You will be blamed when you fail. If you're a non-binary individual, you will not be thought about to avoid the company being "too political". If you're a mediocre white boy who has been complained about multiple times because you're sexist and racist, you will be protected at all costs because congratulations, you're the future of the company. It's not your fault that "some people don't find slavery funny" - direct quote from the CEO If you're a mediocre white boy who spends his days watching Netflix instead of working with "his" team, congratulations because you're also the future of the company. It doesn't matter that your team is run inefficiently, you don't know what you're talking about in any meeting ever, or that you're stunting the career growth of everyone you "manage".
