Pros

Chance for overtime Company provides uniforms

Cons

The employee experience depends entirely on leadership. When I started, my leader was nice, but seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. They called me by the wrong name for about two weeks. I would often have to remind them to send me important documents, uniforms, etc. There was no formalized training, documentation, or instructions, outside of a half-day general HR training I did online. Instead, I got 15 minutes of on-the-job training from the person I was relieving on my first day. After that, things went further downhill. I was told first to photograph employees that weren't following rules, and not to approach them. A few weeks later, I was told to approach them and tell them what they were doing wrong. We were required to wear a body cam, but there was only one available and it was never charged, and no one knew how to download pictures when it was charged. When I asked my leader who the client contacts were, they told me they didn't know. I had to get information from other site personnel, most of which were new or just filling in. Securatech seemed to have a hard time keeping employees at this site, which makes sense now that I’ve seen their operation. About six weeks into the job, the my leader went from friendly and a little clueless, to an almost maniacal micro-manager. They accused me of not doing the job assigned, even though I had quickly adapted to all of the verbal instructions I was given (again, nothing was written down, and instructions changed multiple times). They said the client was unhappy with me, but when I talked to the client they said they had never complained and that I was doing a good job. I was told I needed to knock on the locked department entrance door and wave to HR every hour when I did my rounds, even though they were busy. When I explained this to leadership, I was called and screamed at on the phone during my shift for talking to the client. Even though the site has cameras, and our badge swipes in and out of the building were recorded, leadership became belligerent when I asked for proof that I wasn't doing my job. I never received any follow-up to this request. I was accused of watching movies and sleeping in my car, which never happened. I regularly patrolled the campus and walked the buildings hourly. My badge swipes could easily have proven that, but my requests to review that data were ignored. I've worked security for almost 20 years and have not encountered this type of hostility before. I was never late to a shift, I showed up every day and had a good attitude. I also worked both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, despite the toxic environment. On the morning of New Year's Eve, I was told I was being let go mid-shift. I was not given a reason, but apparently whatever I had done wrong wasn't bad enough for me to be allowed onsite by myself over the holidays. I cannot stress enough how much I would advise against working here.
