Pros
- Free parking
- Tea & coffee making facilities
- Opportunities for training & development on CRM & other IT systems
- MD is approachable, knowledgeable and welcomes ideas
- Sporadic but enjoyable social outings
- Diverse and varied workforce
- Business is agile, there is zero bureaucracy
- Company has lots of opportunity if it could tackle the elephant in the room - it's management or more correctly, mismanagement of people.
Cons
- Below average holiday entitlement (21 days)
- Flexible working and working from home only available to a selected few
- Horrendous staff attrition rate. Majority of staff I met left disgruntled and there was little knowledge transfer. It is a revolving door, in which new staff would inherit issues and be immediately blamed for these problems. The person becomes disillusioned and either leaves or is sacked. A new person is hired and the cycle repeats. I met many skilled and enthusiastic people who had lots to contribute but were absolutely driven into the ground by blame, criticism and changing goal posts.
- Management take no accountability for problems or issues, there is no humility. Everything is aimed squarely at staff, no matter how hard they try to rectify a situation.
- There is little governance, strategy, road map or management information. There are plenty of objectives for staff but any indicators that could benchmark senior management are completely omitted or non-existent.
