Pros
I've worked in numerous fortune 500 global IT companies, they have impressive branding that attracts great talents from all around the world. What happens when you get intelligent people working together? Politics. Asians who excel well but could not promote to higher role because of the 'glass-ceiling' and woman who are expected to be subservient to their superior else are labeled as 'abrasive'. I am proud to say this, all the above does not happen at all in this company. Before joining Sensetime, i had a stigma on Chinese company (biased reporting from media). But i had no choice if not because I was let go by the US IT giant, only this company was offering a job. I had to take it. Thinking back i think this has been the best decision i've made in my entire career life. No regrets, no looking back, only forward, just like the company culture. Very flexible working culture, I am finally able to spend more quality time with my kids while getting good job satisfaction ! No more 'taichi' around because everyone takes their job seriously.
Cons
Unfortunately if you do not speak or read mandarin, then it will be hard to get involve in the many discussion and knowledge sharing session. Fortunately my teammates and the Chinese expats here speaks and write English to me, but whenever we needed help from HQ, I rely 100% on Google Translate.
