ShiftLeft is a company for the right person; if you're not one who thrives in an environment where no one is watching you closely and can make decisions when there's some degree of uncertainty, I think you'll struggle a bit. Similarly, if you need things to be extremely well-defined, the start-up nature of ShiftLeft probably wouldn't work for you.

I spent 18 months with the ShiftLeft team and, overall, it was a very positive experience in my career. Their engineering team is one of the best that I've ever worked with. Each of them is an expert in their respective fields and it clearly shows through in their products. As a Sales Engineer, I had the privilege of working closely with most of the engineering team. ShiftLeft is one of the few companies that allows sales to work directly with engineering in an effort to provide the best possible customer experience. Like most companies, ShiftLeft has had it's growing pains while finding a product/market match. As the product has matured and leadership has aligned product messaging that clearly resonates with its customers, ShiftLeft is firmly positioned to move into the leader position in this market. I left only because I started my own company. It was a bittersweet end to my time at ShiftLeft.

The early days at ShiftLeft, as they struggled to find a product/market match, were a little rough. They're now firmly positioned as the rocketship in this market.
