Pros
I've worked at Shocklogic for more than 5 years now and I am glad to be part of this family (as we all call it!). I love the fact that the work is challenging and I truly learn something new every week. This is one of those companies where you can immediately see the effect of your work and every single person is expected to participate and have a say. The practice of mindfulness is very much encouraged at company activities and there are in-house counsellors available for a confidential chat if needed. At Shocklogic, no one day is like another - each tomorrow has its special miracle. I'd truly recommend this company to anyone, especially people that want to step out of their comfort zone.
Cons
It's true that due to the nature of our industry (events), there's the pressure to deliver projects and functionalities on time and often on a tight deadline. We all commit to being available during weekends, if necessary. The shift to virtual events in the past year and a half meant that everyone had a huge learning curve to go through. At times, some extra training would be useful especially for those of us that manage teams. This is not the place for you if you're looking for an average 9 to 5 type of job.
