Pros

The pros of working at SDE were very obvious in the beginning. They train their employees thoroughly, and give you the tools you need to do your job properly regardless of previous work experience.

Cons

The CEO controls every aspect of the company and takes a very personal approach to managing employees. While this sounds nice in theory, the reality is terrible. He takes every employee's mistakes and triumphs very personally, and if you have a change of situation in your personal life, he demands to know every detail. If this change affects your ability to stay with the company, you are now labeled as a persona non grata. The company no longer hears your ideas, and finds reasons to fault you in every aspect of your work. There is no warning for being written up, there is no longer any transparency about your performance, and you are treated as though you personally betrayed management. On top of this, don't make nearly enough to justify that kind of demand for transparency. The starting pay is $13/hour, which one could easily at a fast food restaurant.

Pros

You know what I love about working with a small company like ShootDotEdit? What you personally contribute makes a HUGE impact. You can make a huge impact on the company, a huge impact on your coworkers and friends, and a HUGE impact on the customers. You’re asked frequently to think deeply about your role, about what and you do and how you do it. They’re always looking to optimize and get better, and are very open to feedback on anything that can deliver better results for you or the customers. It’s been really nice to see how my ideas and feedback have been put into place, and how those updates have literally changed the lives of the customers. But the best part is that you are not just a nameless, faceless cog in the machine. Every teammate is a mission critical teammate. It’s just up to you how much you want to put into it, and that'll dictate how much you're going to grow, learn, and forge your own path there.

Cons

It’s not a cake walk at ShootDotEdit. If you’re looking for a job to just punch in, crank out some widgets, and punch out, this isn’t it.
