Some great people stuck in process-obsessed inefficiencies - Senior CopyWriter Situation Group Employee Review

Pros

There are some really great people at Situation. There is a lot of passion, a lot of energy, and a lot of genuine care for the shows they are marketing. Most of the people are truly doing their best and working their butts off.

Cons

It is an extremely difficult environment to be creative. This is the case with many agencies, but at the end of the day, process wins over everything else at Situation. It feels like people are required to perform their competency, rather than trusted to do their work. This may be a great place to start as a very young creative and work your way up, but it is a very difficult place to fit into if you already know the way you work and trust yourself and your aesthetic. There is no true HR team at Situation. This means there is a profound lack of understanding of what equity, diversity, and inclusion means. When a women's networking group was proposed it was only given the green light when the organizers agreed to have it open to men, so as to be "inclusive." I don't believe anyone is being willfully discriminatory, but they are definitely behind the times when it comes to what inclusion looks and feels like.

Pros

Situation Group is a great place to work with a strong team culture and talented colleagues across strategy, creative, and media. The client roster is impressive, particularly in entertainment and live events, which makes the work exciting and varied. There’s a lot of opportunity to take ownership and grow if you’re proactive. Leadership is accessible and expectations are clear, which helps you develop quickly.

Cons

Like many agencies, it can be fast-paced with tight timelines, which may not be for everyone. Priorities can shift quickly depending on client needs.

Pros

- many coworkers are genuine, kind people. positive office environment - access to broadway shows - decent work/life balance other than covering night shows (which can be a perk)

Cons

- resistance to innovation in favor of status quo - politics run deep- there is definitely a "cool kids club" of longtime employees/friends who get much more visibility and opportunity - growth timelines are too long and pay is lacking
