Pros

Smarking has a very talented tech team. About a third of the whole team graduated from MIT, and a little less than a half came from PhD background. I feel very lucky to be surrounded by such a group of smart and hard-working people. In addition to helping build a continuously evolving product to solve a very tough problem (parking), I learn from our team members everyday. People here have various expertise, ranging from software engineering, machine learning, to transportation and public policies. People are willing to help and eager to learn from each other. Very happy to work here.

Cons

The open space sometimes causes problems when I want to focus on coding. Need some quiet rooms for that purpose. Also, some meetings can be shorter.

Great feedback! We are moving into a new office space on July 29th 2017 with both open working space and multiple "war-rooms" for our team members to choose and use depending their needs. In the past a few months, we've also implemented much more thought out regular meeting schedules to eliminate the unexpected / ad-hoc meetings so that the general efficiency of internal ops and meeting lengths are much better. We'll continue to improve on this as a team to strive for the best dynamics and productivity out of our day to day. Go Smarkers!
