Pros

Some good employees perk like reimbursement for desk setup

Cons

This is a company that has been in business for 10 years with several failed products and nothing to show. The leadership and the CEO neither have the experience nor the business acumen to run a company. The CEO is an idol worshipper of famous X developers and believes in hiring X developers who have large following to do their "marketing." It is no wonder that people constantly leave or arbitrarily get fired over zoom for no reasonl The new product - Amp is good at best but lost among a sea of other giants like Claude code and Codex. The executive team likes to pretend that it is the next big thing after sliced bread and constantly hype about it on social media with no substance. The senior engineering team has a very toxic culture with some seniors constantly bullying the others over their posts on X. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company. You are better off at a startup with lower salary but more potential and those who actually cares about their employees instead of this aging startup run by clueless millennials.

Pros

I'll start by saying Sourcegraph is not a fit for everyone. The people I've seen thrive here are self-starters who enjoy high-agency, scrappy environments and can work through ambiguity. - Truly some of the best people I've ever worked with. - Employees are encouraged to share feedback and run with new ideas and processes with close to no red tape. I love the impact and ownership every person gets. - It is extremely, extremely fast-paced, which I personally love. - Pay is very competitive. - Best benefits I've ever seen.

Cons

- Great benefits, but no 401k match. - As I mentioned above, the pace and shifting priorities makes it a place that's not for everyone. You probably won't enjoy the company if you prefer a ton of structure.

Pros

- Fantastic Trips - Generous Parental Leave - Office Budget - Always have everything you need to do your job It’s a good job with what I still believe to be incredible tech. The fact that this behemoth of a software works as reliably and smoothly as possible is a testament to quite a few generations of talented and smart individuals. It’s not until you step away from using it as a daily driver that you really realize it’s like a Ferrari, they only make a few every so often and the engineers that work on them care about every single bolt.

Cons

- A bit of a roller coaster - Strong personalities - No roadmap for career you’re going to have to make one The cons come from this being a business that has to make money. It’s always been. Running a business takes incredible acumen and at times shrewd choices. With a step backward I think there was a lot of missteps here with handling finances and the optimism that came with low interest rates. Most devs don’t realize how this thing even works let alone how or why it will improve their productivity.
