Pros
Having worked at three other agencies, Split has it figured out. The variety of work is a huge plus. Split has a VERY diverse client base, so you never get bored. Almost everyone gets to work from home if we want, with creative mtgs three times a week for an hour via Skype. There’s also the collaboration between the other offices. We can seek advice or input from any of our team members any time. It’s a great place to work if you love your freedom. If you need really tight structure, this isn’t your place. The pay is about 25% higher than anyplace else I’ve been. They do this to keep us loyal and it works!
Cons
Almost everyone is a contractor so people come and go. Without a traditional workplace setting, sometimes it’s almost too much freedom. The time sheet system is way too invasive. Todd, the creative director and owner, knows exactly how much time we spend per project in like 2 minuet intervals. Every job is tracked per I.p address and contractor #, so there’s no fudging on time. If there’s no action for 2 min.... you’re not getting paid. Kinda sucks because everyone needs a bathroom break sometimes.
