Pros

Free downtown parking. Benefits are average, but declining (benefits are gradually being taken away).

Cons

State Auto no longer wants to promote employees who have been loyal to the company and have a proven history of learning. It does not value its employees anymore at all. Too much red tape and PM bureaucracy. The atmosphere has changed to one where everyone is only looking out for himself, instead of the teamwork/family atmosphere that once existed. Money is not spent wisely. Bonuses and raises are given inequitably. There is now elitism in the current management circle. The atmosphere is depressing, and most people are looking for other jobs. The company is trying to do more with less and working people to death in some areas. IT areas are starting to be outsourced. The IT areas that remain are led by managers who are not knowledgeable enough about their areas of responsibility, and they make poor decisions.

Pros

People are consistently demonstrating high levels of competencies, and a respect for work life balance. Many community outreach initiatives sees the organization involvement so great, many years we exceed expectations with generosity and kindness. Opportunities to learn and grow, though we need to promote opportunities to celebrate the people who invest in personal development. Claims representatives are high caliber - as a policy holder and employee - I know we have an excellent product, as demonstrated by the claims service.

Cons

We continue to be challenged to improve efficiencies in our internal processes. Strategic efforts to improve are there, and in time will be implemented, but in the interim we have many solutions which have the feel of 'a work around' while we implement the new and better processes.
