Pros

- Most people are great. - Salaries are pretty good. - Benefits are pretty good. - Model is real hybrid. - Culture was great... - Good diversity... w exceptions

Cons

- Some middle managers are not decent humans, which they compensate with politics and an amazing ability to 'present the truth'. - With the company growing, culture is going down. - Some issues in supporting the family-work balance.

Growing fast is exciting, but it also puts pressure on culture and leadership, and that’s something I personally spend a lot of time on (definitely not enough). We’ve made changes along the way, especially at the management level, and we’re continuing to raise the bar. Glad to hear parts of your experience were positive, and I hope your time here was meaningful overall, even if the ending wasn’t perfect. Would appreciate if you could write a quick email to provide more detail about the family-work balance & middle-managers issue. It's my best way to understand and act, andrew@stay22.com

Pros

Stay22 is genuinely a heaven for builders. If you’re someone who wants to take ownership, move fast, and actually shape what you’re working on, this is one of the best environments you can be in. There’s a strong sense of trust across the company - no clocking in or out, no micromanagement. You’re trusted to do great work, and that trust is real, not just something leadership says. The founders and leadership team care deeply - not just about the business, but about the people. They’re present, receptive to ideas, and make a genuine and real effort to recognize contributions. The culture balances intensity and sustainability well. People work hard, but rest is valued. Flexible time off is encouraged and respected. There’s also a strong in-office culture - not forced, but chosen. A large majority of the Montreal team opts to come in daily because they enjoy the environment and the people. Perks are great (2 annual retreats, on-site massages, gym, lunches, regular team events), but honestly, the most rewarding part is the work itself - getting to build and scale something meaningful in a high-trust environment. You can also carve your own path here. Leadership is open, ideas are welcomed, and if you want to grow or try something new, there’s space to do it.

Cons

Things tend to change pretty quickly (con for some, pro for some) as the company grows swiftly, so it’s important to be able to keep pace and stay adaptable as things evolve.

Pros

It's wonderful to be part of a team where psychological safety is real. A place where you can speak up, have ownership, make mistakes, and grow. At Stay22, caring about the human comes naturally. We work with brilliant people, we aim to build something unique and successful — and we truly believe both can coexist.

Cons

Rapid growth definitely comes with its fair share of challenges, but leadership does an excellent job bringing in the right people to bridge the gaps along the way.
