At the beginning of the year, around ten employees were let go due to redundancy. What felt particularly unprofessional was that no alternative contracts or roles were offered to the employees already working there. Instead, the company decided to hire new people as consultants, which was difficult to understand and left many of us questioning the reasoning behind that decision.
The communication around the layoffs was handled in a very cold and impersonal way. We were informed during a general meeting where it was announced that redundancies would take place, and after that most communication happened through company-wide messages. We were essentially informed alongside the rest of the company rather than through individual conversations. Our names were not even mentioned; we only realized the situation through a slide during the presentation. The whole process felt very distant and unprofessional, especially considering the impact it had on the people involved. After that initial meeting, management largely disappeared from the conversation. It felt as though they simply washed their hands of the situation. No one took the time to speak with us individually, and when we left, no one from management even came to say goodbye. The whole process felt distant, impersonal, and unprofessional.
