Pros

Good size company, not so big that you get lost in the shuffle, not so small that everything is held together with chewing gum. The variety of snacks come in handy if you have sufficient willpower. Work-life balance is pretty good for most positions. Although like anywhere we have the occasional bad egg, most folks are nice. Interviews are easy, as are reviews.

Cons

The company has not taken off like it should have. Competition, bad management decisions, and executive churn all contribute. Generally speaking, it’s not an environment that supports and values employees. The physical work space, usually just a table in a bullpen, is a great example. People figure this out pretty quickly, and the ones with options seem to move on. Employee turnover is high, and the upper managers that haven’t figured out the value in retaining good people are killing the company. Many of us share info with each other. Some departments do a pretty good job of backing their people (Support, Dev), some are the opposite (G&A, Sales). The negative impact the CFO had on the people under him has been astonishing to those of us watching, though somehow he continues with impunity.

Sugar is in a pivotal time in our company's evolution, and with this comes necessary change in order to propel forward. Addressing your feedback on the work space, we are excited to open up the additional, modern office space in Cupertino this month. We realize people work best in various environments which is why we provide options - open space as well as quiet rooms. Pros

"Unlimited" PTO. Flexible remote work environment.

Cons

The company has struggled to establish a clear and consistent vision. Strategic priorities frequently shift, making it difficult for teams to execute long-term plans effectively. * Upper management often appears disconnected from the realities faced by employees and customers. Decisions can feel reactive rather than driven by a cohesive strategy. * Morale has declined over time as teams face ongoing uncertainty, reorganizations, and changing priorities. * There is a significant gap between leadership messaging and day-to-day execution. * Product innovation often feels driven by market trends and buzzwords rather than a deep understanding of customer needs.
