Pros

The team i worked with at Sunbelt San Diego was amazing. Jon, Jason, and Allison really made my time here the best.

Cons

As a union position, the local 230 union was pretty sub-standard. I didn't enjoy anything about the union.

Pros

The ESOP is one of the only redeeming qualities. If you stick it out a few years you can walk away with a good chunk of change.

Cons

Promotions are nonexistent. Management is very low trust and keeps employees on a short leash. No wfh, no real growth. No performance reviews for fear of employees asking for more money. If you’re an engineer you’re expected to be happy with the same low salary forever, or try to become a PM which is not a very attractive job since it’s 2 jobs in one (sales and project management) for the pay of 1. PM base salary caps out at 120kish which is comically low for the industry, and you have to “break even” via sales margins which can take years to realize given construction schedules. Management essentially coasts, riding on the coattails of veteran sales guys and taking credit for their numbers. Over half of the sales staff is close to retirement so when that happens it’s impossible to see them stay afloat given that there is no effort to competitively recruit or retain younger talent.
