Pros

Friendly Co-workers Good hours Service Van and paid tools

Cons

-Overly long 180 day probation period. -Will tell you upon hiring that all employees are valued and that they want to invest in you. Any mistake will be a learning experience and if you aren't working out in one field, they'll help to find a better spot for you in the company. -Unfortunately, I was fired on my 60 day review, a day I was looking forward to because I knew I had a few times already where I was struggling and truly wanted to hear how they thought I could do better. I had no write ups, no warnings, nothing that would indicate that my employment was in jeopardy. They had just given me a company service vehicle and BRAND NEW TOOLS two weeks prior to my firing. I was fired for what i believe to be an incident where I had accidentally wired a fire alarm panel wrong. An issue to which I was told I did wrong and promptly fixed it. I was told I was being transferred to another job after that because of the issue, and received a call from my Project Manager, to which he apologized to me for throwing me in the fire on a rush job. Prior to that week, I had never ever installed fire alarm panels and was only given a crash course on how to do it. (Tech will train you by the way and showed me their simulation lab where you can learn this stuff, but I wasn't their long enough to do that) I legitimately thought that I understood what I was doing and even showed my coworker the results after he showed me to which he said I did it correctly. When I was left alone to my own panel, I did what I thought was the right way, I even had pictures and notes to follow. I admit, I did it wrong but I was being unsupervised and legitimately thought I had it right, which is the reason I didn't have my coworker check it. In hind sight, I should have asked him to check my work, but he was in charge while I was the newbie here, so I feel like checking my work should have been the first thing he did that day. My project manager told me he was sorry for putting me in that situation and he even said that they should have known better than to put the new guy in a situation I wasn't trained for yet. Tech brought that up on my 60 day review and told me "it's just not working out" after I would ask them before whether or not I was doing good and if i could improve. I wanted to improve, I want to better myself, but Tech fired me anyways and did not at all honor what the Company President told me on my interview. They took the company van that same day and had me sit and wait outside while they went through my van and cataloged all the tools and equipment. I also had to return the company phone that day as well. So I had no phone and no car. They asked me if I was able to get a ride home, (I live in Illinois about 45 minutes away) to which I said no. The nicest thing they did was offer to get me an Uber and pay for it. So no, I don't recommend Tech at all. They stick to their own people and promote from within if you started their lower on the totem pole. 2 of my coworkers were former warehouse guys with no experience in the field (they actually are really good guys and very knowledgeable and I enjoyed working with them very much) and they were brought up from within the company just like the President told me they do, but I question why they couldn't do the same for me. I even asked them that as they were firing me and they said "no, but after we're done here, you can certainly apply for another position", as if I'm going to waste my time with you guys again.
