Scientists and engineers get to work on interesting, important projects with real science and engineering, not just a bunch of red tape. Executive and administrative staff get to work with great people in a collegial environment. Everyone gets to work for a company where profit is secondary to caring for their people.
Cons
Not exactly a con, but expectations are high. They hire experts and expect them to behave accordingly, with professionalism and a high degree of autonomy.
