These continuous changes in focus often meant that projects were usually left half-done. It didn't help with multiple messages and pushes over Slack to do hotfixes or information gathering, making us not meet the deadlines. I saw a lack of transparency, leading to mistrust and internal gossip. This impacted our morale and productivity, especially as they said all was good and suddenly laid off the whole engineering team. And reposting the job openings for laid-off positions also gave a big warning.
