Pros

The students, their families, and the passionate teachers. The upper elementary teachers go out of their way to provide a warm and stable environment for their students.

Cons

The cons have changed a little with the new management. If you ask for support, you're either ignored or quietly let go. There haven't been any layoffs mid school year, so that's good. This school so desperately wants a heart and soul, but they keep fostering environments that keep the turnover rate high. Teachers are let go or quit so frequently that the students are emotionally affected by the lack of stability. The most consistent community for the students comes from the drama and music departments.

Pros

Many teachers tried hard despite all the challenges

Cons

Even before the Wall Street Journal article about Tessellations made us the laughingstock of the Bay Area, there were so many problems. Ineffective leadership at the top. Endless meetings. Overbearing parents. Teachers and staff quitting or getting fired every year. Kids getting hurt. Families withdrawing their kids midyear. Licensing violations. Schedules and curriculum changing every year. Ongoing lawsuits by 3 former teachers and 1 family. Shutting down the high school with zero notice to families. Giving up giftedness screening to boost enrollment.
