Pros

Nearly endless opportunities to network with corporate/for profit employers.

Cons

If you have a spouse, children, hobbies, or a conscience you DO NOT want to work for The Challenge Program Inc. Although the salary is competitive on paper, it falls well short of compensating for the early mornings, late nights, and poor (micro) management which all lead to undue stress and infighting. There is no flexibility and leadership refuses to accept any constructive criticism and/or feedback whatsoever. In fact, they treat employees like children. Much more importantly, TCP presents itself as an "education improvement organization” to expose high school students to careers in their communities. In reality, the goal is to raise as much money as possible to support their lavish lifestyle. I have never seen an NPO spend the exorbitant amount of money on hotels, lunches, and dinners they spend at The Challenge Program. They do not help high school students find jobs or establish career paths to the extent they claim. The program vision and mission are convoluted at best. Of the 600,000+ students who’ve participated in the program only a fraction of a fraction have been hired directly by TCP business partners. Ask them. They are hemorrhaging dollars and instead of sacrificing lunches and dinners in private social clubs, nightly five star hotel rooms, and personal chauffeurs, they ride the employees into the ground to fund-raise as much as possible in an effort to fix their mistakes. Keep looking!

Pros

I’ve been The Challenge Program for two years now. It really has been a stellar experience and I’ve gained an immense amount of knowledge. I really appreciate the amazing team here and we hold together a very strong and positive work environment alongside very welcoming and accepting environment for all current and new employees.

Cons

Being a nonprofit, sometimes the pay is not hyper competitive with people in similar positions, and the public sector in the same vein. Sometimes the workload can be a bit heavy because it does require a certain level of passion and drive to handle.
