Pros

If you dedicate your whole life to them, they will pay you well (i'm talking 80 hour weeks) The support staff (and particularly secretaries) work hard in difficult circumstances

Cons

Partner profit comes first. It doesn't matter how a Partner acts/behaves if they are a big biller they will get away with it. Support staff are treated like second class citizens. Dictatorial CEO. You better not have an opinion that is different to his and speak up about it, as you will be ostracised. People generally are dispensible in this business. But women particularly, and don't even think about going on parental leave if you want to have a career here. They read your emails and use that against you. Don't even get me started on the IT team and the inappropriate snooping they do. I'm still having therapy to get over this place

Pros

The firm has a strong and growing client base, is expanding rapidly, and offers a recognised brand name that can enhance future career opportunities.

Cons

A firm that positions itself as a challenger to top-tier practices but lacks some of the associated perks — such as complimentary breakfasts or regular social events. Social activities are generally limited to end-of-financial-year and Christmas gatherings. The environment is highly commercial, with a strong focus on settling matters and generating revenue rather than mentoring or developing junior staff.
