Pros

It breaks my heart to see on Glassdoor to see all these five star reviews from people reviewing their clubs. Yes, the clubs are life changing and the impact it has on people's lives is what drove me to work here. And I still see value in that.

Cons

...But the organization, not the clubs are thoroughly mismanaged. The IT department is a place of despair. Employees are micromanaged. It's a culture of "who was wrong" not "how can we move forward together." Leadership is unaccountable and distant. IT hired a lot of talented people and put them in positions where there was zero opportunity to succeed. People left because they were hired to do one job and got shoehorned into another job by management. It's just an unhappy and unfriendly place to work. If you like inter-office politicking between life-long employees and leadership who is immune to any criticism. Then sure, give it a go. Pay, hours, time off, and benefits are well below average for the Denver market. (Dear Glassdoor, you're asking us below to rate the CEO. But you have the name of the Toastmasters International President. Pat Johnson is fine. You should be asking people to rate Dan Rex, the actual CEO)

Pros

I love my job and the people I work with. We have a great culture.

Cons

We are a nonprofit. As such, we pay like a nonprofit.

Pros

They always paid on time, and the benefits were adequate. If you get a good supervisor, it could be a nice place to work, but there is so much inconsistency across different departments.

Cons

When I first applied for the job, I saw how bad all of their reviews were. However, after meeting my team in the interview stage, I decided to ignore that. My team was good. Unfortunately, after conflicts with upper management, they all left, and that was when things got bad. I reported directly to someone high up in leadership. He had no idea what my job was and was not able to offer any guidance or training, despite my asking and being very honest with him that I did not have the experience of my former team members. I eventually left after he made it clear that dominating employees was more important to him than helping us do our work or providing good-quality services to our members. The lies and manipulation tactics used were as obvious as they were gross. HR is empathetic, but it was clear after many, many, many employees had given honest, detailed feedback about this leader specifically and in writing, that they will not do anything to intervene. If you decide to join the company, especially in the Marketing and Communications Division, everyone will tell you the exact same thing, just like they told me when I first started.
