Pros
Topia still has that startup flavor. Not much in the way of benefits compared to other companies, compensation lags the market, but there are pluses. I have never found the CEO to ever not back me up, nor not have my back. In fact, there are times I expected a major butt chewing, and instead got the lets learn from it and move on. Work life balance is extremely good, and we arent on death march all the time. Only when truly necessary. Not because it makes management look good when we do. Its an open and collaborative environment, where everyone has a say. The company is transitioning into BlockChain, and there are a LOT of opportunities in this space for Topia to capitalize on. Mixing military grade encryption, BlockChain technology, and Peer to Peer communication in a decentralized environment is some true Star Trek, Boldly go where no man has gone before stuff. Its real bleeding edge design and development. You wont find that in many places. Topia is small, its scrappy, and an exciting place to be right now. For me honestly, its what I do, and who I work for, and who I work with, that drive me. Working with or for people I dont like, or on a product I dont like, makes me wanna pack my fabrics and leave. Not the case here. Another Pro for me, is its the shortest commute I've had in a long time. If you live in the south end, its beats driving to Bellevue or Seattle!
Cons
Pay and Benefits. As I stated above, its a small startup environment, where every cost is scrutinized. Its very frugal. The lunchroom isnt much, the locale doesnt ring my bell either ( I liked the old offices up on Pac Ave). Everyone wears multiple hats.(thats the nature of small startups). None are necessarily cons, more like honest observations.
