Pros

Decent pay and benefits. The org hires from their client base, and the staff is majority trans. Great coworkers.

Cons

Management makes it difficult to do your job as a therapist. No documentation software, dedicated physical space, or professional development opportunities are provided to you as a therapist. You are the only dedicated full-time mental health staff in the organization. I met with my clinical supervisor once a week virtually, since she has three other jobs and is rarely ever in the office. When concerns are brought up, they are dismissed since "this is not a mental health organization." You will gain better experience, either as a professional therapist or an MSW/MFT intern, working somewhere else. These concerns can also apply to other roles within the organization since management creates a toxic work environment. The organization also has high turnover with people either being let go or quitting constantly.

Cons

Glassdoor Review **Rating:** ★☆☆☆☆ As a former employee of this nonprofit organization, I feel compelled to share my experience. Despite its mission statement, I found that the primary focus of the organization is on raising funds for itself, rather than genuinely supporting the community it claims to serve. The leadership is concerning, as it is run by individuals with criminal backgrounds, which raises questions about ethical practices. Additionally, management displays favoritism towards a select group of employees, creating a divisive atmosphere. The turnover rate is alarmingly high—almost every other month, new employees are brought in to handle the workload. Unfortunately, many of these individuals are not given proper training and are often left to perform the more demanding tasks, only to be let go shortly after. The work environment is toxic, lacking professionalism and structure. Much of the work is outsourced, leading to inefficiencies and misuse of city-provided funds. Overall, I would not recommend this organization as a healthy or ethical place to work.
