Pros

The individual employees who work at GreenBiz are some of the smartest people I've ever had the privilege to work with. I never felt like the smartest person in the (virtual room) and was always excited to learn from my colleagues. The company has a nice balance of remote work and also getting together four times a year for events. Everyone really cares about the work they are doing

Cons

The leadership is pretty inept at this point. The team that worked okay leading a small 30 person company is not who should be in charge if they are trying to aggressively grow. The company made the very pedestrian mistake of obviously over-hiring, ignoring the signs of an economic slow down (pointed out to leadership by many) which resulted in a mass layoff of both the newly hired and long term veterans. It's stated goal was to invest in digital media but laid off many content creators while keeping event operations organizers and marketers. The money spending is also not very strategic.

Hi, This is Greg, the COO of GreenBiz. First off, thank you so much for taking the time to leave this feedback. We hear you and definitely recognize how hard this decision was on the incredibly talented teammates who were impacted by our 15% reduction in force. I can’t emphasize enough how appreciative we are of the work you and the rest of the team have contributed to GreenBiz. It was certainly a difficult decision, but given the macroeconomic climate—forcing many companies to make similarly difficult decisions—this was a hard but necessary choice to ensure we can sustain our business and deliver on our mission to empower professional communities to confront the climate crisis. This has been a learning experience for many of us, and we hope to use those learnings and feedback like yours to more effectively work towards our goals in 2024. --Greg

Hi there, This is Nick from the People & Culture team. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. I absolutely agree about the best-in-class coworkers. So happy to hear that you gained valuable experience with room for learning and development—that is our ultimate goal for anyone at Trellis Group. I also appreciate your honest input on the challenges that come with working in a smaller organization, especially one that has a unique nature in media & events. We recognize the potential for burnout during peak times and are continuously looking for ways to support our team during these periods. Finding the right balance for our team in an ever-changing landscape is a priority, and your feedback reinforces the importance of this focus. Thank you again for your thoughtful insights—they help us grow and improve!
