Pros
Mgmt encourages classes, etc. to keep up technical skills. Lots of opportunity to try new approaches, tool sets, etc. Good bonuses. No micromanaging.
Cons
Mgmt need to give more performance feedback (both positive and negative). No clear advancement track or salary increase structure. Mgmt sometimes plays favorites.
