Cons
Horrible workplace atmosphere lead by management that enjoys divisiveness.
Pros
Stable, forward thinking environment, and team first culture.
Cons
Always looking for a better way can cause frustration if the momentum is too fast for some.
Pros
Benefits are paid for but you pay Union Dues. Recent pay increase highest its been in well over a decade after years of being underpaid. Job Security… You pretty much can be casually late every single day or leave whenever you want (unpaid) because they can’t afford to fire anyone. Culture… If you don’t know how to do anything valuable you have it the easiest here and got a better shot at being a manager then someone who can do everything in the shop. The more useless you are the more beneficial it is for you. If you are an buttkisser and BSer this is your kind of company. Sounds like a hardworkers dream doesn’t it?
Cons
Our President is a super nice guy but weather he knows all the BS that goes on here is beyond me. HR is completely in the dark about 90% if tge happenings in the shop, management sweeps so much under the rug. You are just a warm body and a number on the time clock. Management is for the most part full of nice people but they don’t know how to manage… they are puppets. There is no urge to train people even though management continuously talks about the number of near future retirees. The same people screw off and walk around BSing day in and day out, management doesn’t manage they continuously let it go on. The same couple people get the hard jobs while the rest live on easy street and always protected by management and live under their blanket of excuses why they can’t give certain people certain jobs.(Lack of experience and repetition) Management is made up of people we have constantly had shop meetings about conduct through the years. The lack of planning and preparation by the under experienced salemen/ project managers/management always necessitates an “EMERGENCY”. You are then expected to rush through your work to rout, fab, paint and assemble all for the job to sit around the shop for months after it has been completed. This is about the most inefficient place you could work, the same inefficient employees are the ones running things…“Coincidence???” Forget about moving up if you come in and do an excellent job… They posted an open positions flyer on the time clock only to reject anyone who wants to try something new, even though it says they encourage lateral movement, the Management will handcuff you to your position and make every excuse under the sun why they can’t let you grow… You can have the best work ethic in the world, it doesn’t pay to work hard here. This is where I said the more useless you are the more beneficial it is to you part comes in. They have no problem moving the useless people around instead of getting rid of the uselessness that kind of employee promotes.(Warmbody Mentality) No one is beating down the door to work here. The employee turn around is quite something over the past 15yrs. At one point there were more the 100 union employees, now maybe around 60. More times then not the employees leave because of the lack of movement or have hit a ceiling that there is no more growth, so they leave for something better and very few have ever returned. Company has changed hands in ownership several times in a short time period. Place would be great if they would just fix the BS that has plagued this place for decades instead of spewing out excuses and not learning from them.
