Pros

Money and benefits. they give you freedom on how to go about finding sales.

Cons

Where to start. Well as in all sales jobs you will have your favorites, that is to be expected. Naturally you'll have top performers due to sheer talent and others thru favoritism, nepotism or quid pro quo. Some things didn't make alot of sense, how some people who got giant accounts got them in the first place, and others had to get by on table scraps. Middle management definitely had their favorites, so how on earth would you ever make your sales numbers without getting a account or two from the heavens. In this regard a giant homebuilder that does anywhere from 50-300 homes a year. These accounts are given not earned. Puts you in a hand to mouth situation where you're never secure if you dont have one of these accounts. You have to make a minimum of 100k a month in sales in order to keep your job. Now with internet age, you think a company as big as topbuild/truteam would have a SEO for Google and Facebook to book internet leads but nope, if you look up insulation they're on the second page, other smaller companies are dominant in that regard. Marketing is left to the division head and apparently they zero budget for it. It really is amazing they want you to pursue smaller higher margin work but nothing to back you up. No company shirts polos, portfolios to bring with you. They have a shower divison they actively try to push, no samples, no fine glossy paper to show potential customers, it's ridiculous. Can't make it up. Now here's where chasing smaller work doesn't make sense for a company like this, they don't provide a company car. They want you to take your personal car to every jobsite I've done a total of 87 stops once took 8 hours and 47 min, I was behind and had to make up for lost time one day, In these trips you don't have access to a builders name or address, sometimes it's not on the building site. Managers response is to keep driving by it in hopes of finding one person to ask a question who is the builder how do I contact them.......... You've spend gas, time, and here where it's funny car maintenance. I killed a van I used to own running these permits. So I started to use rentals, I've put so much mileage on the rentals that the rental car place had to remind me to turn the car back in so it could get maintenance and to give me another while they do it. In total I had 4 rentals working there. Brakes, oil changes, rotors, filters and tire rods all had to be replaced. 9 months of working there i put 56k miles. Think long and hard hopefully they changed their practices but I doubt it.
