Pros

Benefits are competitive although that may be changing under the new Empath ownership

Cons

The company used to care about patients and staff. Now it’s all about money. Sign on the most patients possible whether there is enough staff to care for them or not. Nurse caseloads are too high. Patients receive sub par care because the staff workloads are unreasonable. The company does not value its employees. There are no incentives to long term employees. In fact, they pay outside applicants more than internal transfers. They utilize agency staff and contract nurses only when staffing is beyond critical. If the nurse takes a vacation, no one sees their patients, the nurse comes back and has to play catch up (not to mention the needs of the patients going un-met). The company has terrible star ratings from the Medicare surveys to family members of the deceased and for good reason. The company blames the staff for the bad scores, not the leadership and refusal to hire appropriate amount of staff. Hospice used to be about giving the dying person options and honoring their wishes. Now, admission nurses lie and omit explanations about services to sign people up so they meet their numbers. Staff are salaried and expected to work overtime without compensation. Everyone is replaceable. The company was bought out because it was going under and it doesn't appear anything has changed for the better. I would expect older reviews to be much more positive. Unfortunately, the company has changed in all the wrong ways.
