Pros

Flexible hours and flexibility to submit applications for students of choice

Cons

This company bleeds tutors dry. They charge parents around $45/hour but pay tutors only $18/hour for K–12 and $22/hour for college students — a complete insult to the amount of prep, teaching, and effort that goes into each session. Even for in-home tutoring, they only add a couple of extra dollars, which doesn’t even cover gas or travel time. And good luck getting steady work — they reject almost every application you make for their posted jobs and might toss you one measly session a week if you’re lucky. It’s ridiculous how they exploit the very people keeping their business running. Tutorax doesn’t value tutors at all — just profits. Future tutors, save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere.

Pros

This is not a scam job. They do pay.

Cons

There are dozens of tutors available for each student and you have to apply for each tutoring gig posted. They do have a number of students looking for tutors at a given time, but you often have upwards of 20-50+ tutors applying for the same gig, so it’s unbelievably hard to build a case load. The staff is also spread so thin that there is no personal connection between the central team and staff. You don’t even have a real interview with anyone, you simply have a pre-recorded interview and never meet anyone.
