Pros

A handful of kind/reasonable/helpful coworkers at tynker. Although it seems like another one leaves every month or so. The snacks are alright.

Cons

1. CEO. He is a master of gaslighting and manipulation with a truly terrifying temper. He constantly questions employees' loyalty to him and to tynker. He expects employees to work long hours and be upbeat, even though he comes in late and leaves early and never smiles or greets people. And because tynker is a very small company, he is able to pollute the whole office with his nastiness. 2. People at tynker are unhappy. People at tynker want to leave tynker. Even though some of your coworkers are cool, it's just not an okay environment. The best ones are probably on their way out. 3. The $$$. They offer you a lot of stock instead of a decent salary. Someone in tech gave me good advice: always assume that your stock is worth zero. Because in 95% of start-ups, it is. And every company thinks they're the exception. 4. Advancement opportunities. As a game developer, your skills will stagnate. You are mostly coding in Tynker's Scratch-like environment, not in a real language. That is not an employable or transferrable skill. 5. The product (tynker courses) is not good, and management is disinterested in improving it in meaningful ways. It's demoralizing to work on projects where the goal is just to get it done as quickly as possible and have it look good, without much concern for the actual user. I just want to add: I wish I'd known before joining tynker what this environment would be like. It really is miserable and toxic beyond what I could have imagined. My mental health (and the mental health of other employees) has suffered significantly here.

Pros

I love my job at Tynker! There is a new CEO who is great to work with. It's a very stable job and the company continues to grow. They value their employees and reward those who stick around. The people at Tynker have a very strong work ethic. I trust everyone at the company to always work hard and never give up on making Tynker successful for everyone involved. The higher-ups also listen to everything we say and take it into consideration. Tynker is also very transparent with it's employees about the health of the company, and gives company performance reports every week. I also have great health insurance and options for lots of benefits packages.

Cons

No job is perfect. I won't go into detail, but of course there have been times I haven't gotten along with everyone working at Tynker. I consider this normal with every job however. I do wish there was more paid time off, but 12 days is reasonable. Since the company is scaling, there can be some growing pains, but I believe in the people working here and all these problems will be addressed in time.

Pros

There are great people under the main two leaders at Tynker. They are easy to work with and care about building something great for kids. The challenge is that many of them ar looking for a way out. You won't be able to guarantee that those folks are even there.

Cons

The two main leaders. As I have gotten out, I have evaluated what the challenges were, and I genuinely believe it's the leaders arrogance that has put the company in the place it is. They cared more about scaling a business and an exit than a mission. I have had promises broken, lacked career advancement here, and above all my trust has been broken.
