- Toxic work environment - Managers/supervisors - Always mistakes in the payslip - Equipment is all old - No customers Breaks are often times ignored until it becomes too late. Managers also break contract agreements regularly, I was never given any of my contracted hours, I was contracted 35hrs a week, but was given an average of 20 hrs a week. Managers regularly give staff a hard time and make new rules wherever they can. Issues of overstaffing due to the failure of management meant that all staff were at risk of being fired from the smallest of issues. The firing was always done over the phone, which is unprofessional. Those promoted to supervisor roles are done so on the basis of favouritism, rather than merit. Although the pay is given out every two weeks mistakes are regularly made, with my first two payouts being 17 hours under the actual amount of hours. Management does not care about this and shrug it off, requires persistent daily emails for an answer. UK Employers are required to supply necessary PPE, at the time this included face masks in hospitality. Although Underbelly did not provide this, much of the time there were no face masks available, and staff were signed in as late as they had to go the corner shop to purchase face masks. Management hands out the worst of tasks to those they do not like. This included raking a large outdoor sandpit for hours on end. And hoovering outdoors for the 8-hour duration of the shift. During shifts "treats" were handed out to staff, this consisted of going to the back and being given multiple shots before going back on shift. Although this was enjoyed by staff it was clearly done to butter staff up for their reduced hours and lack of customers.
